Hi, thank you for your interest in Guitar Potential, and welcome to my website.

My name is Tim Bray, and I've been a professional performing guitarist since 1988, averaging 75 shows a year over the last 25 years. I've been a full-time guitar instructor for 30 years now, and I have taught nearly 100,000 individual lessons to hundreds of students of all skill levels. Guitar Potential is my lessons studio and Im really excited to welcome anyone as a student who is interested in learning the guitar, improving skills theyve already developed, or exploring new musical styles or techniques.

EVERY STUDENT LEARNS DIFFERENTLY! Whether youre an aspiring professional, or just want to have fun playing a few of your favorite songs, I realize that no two students are alike, and I have years of experience in creating customized individual lesson programs that are uncomplicated, low-stress, and most importantly: FUN!

Although I teach all skills levels, and most musical styles, I especially enjoy working with students with no prior musical experience. My student roster usually comprises about equal parts middle and high school students (boys AND girls), working adults, college students, and children.

One important component of my teaching approach is the use of popular songs to learn the fundamentals of music; gone are the days of Mary Had a Little Lamb and Yankee Doodle. Instead, my students master timing, chart reading, theory and technique while playing songs of their choosing, often from bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, U2 and Green Day (to name just a few).

Guitar Potential is in the Shops of Idlewild section of the Idlewild community. Its a group of 10-12 businesses situated around a town square-type area near the Rt. 3 entrance to the neighborhood, and within sight of the communitys club house, pool and model homes. Its about two miles from downtown, Central Park, and the Spotsylvania Towne Centre, and right off the I-95 exit for Fredericksburg (130A). Theres plenty of parking, and a comfortable waiting area.
